Centre for Creative Practices and Creative Entrepreneurs Academy were delighted to present this one-off event on the mechanics and policy behind Creative Europe, Creative Europe Media, Erasmus Plus, Europe for Citizens and Horizon2020 – the EU Funding Programmes available to Creative Businesses, Organisations and Projects.

During this half-day seminar, you got an overview of how to find the relevant funding opportunities, what support services are available, hear about examples of funded projects and get an overview of the EU funding programmes most relevant to your business or project.

ORLA CLANCY is Manager of Creative Europe Desk Ireland – MEDIA Office. As Head of the MEDIA Office in Dublin, Orla provides advice, support and information on Creative Europe applications and funding support for the audiovisual industries including film, television and games.

Orla’s Professional Profile includes: Project Management and co-ordination; Event Management; Funding Proposals; Presentations; Office Management; Accounts; Corporate Governance.

Creative Europe Desk Ireland – has two specialist MEDIA information offices, one based in Dublin and one in Galway. We offer comprehensive information on the European Union’s Creative Europe Programme and specifically the MEDIA sub-programme.


KATIE LOWRY is a Culture Officer at the Creative Europe Desk Ireland. She has over 16 years’ experience working in the arts in Ireland. After 6 years in the Irish Film Board, she worked as an independent arts consultant before joining the International Department in the Arts Council in 2008.

Creative Europe Desk Ireland – Culture Office promotes funding available under the Creative Europe Programme 2014 – 2020 through workshops, seminars and sector events. We provide information, advice and technical assistance to anyone in Ireland planning applications to Creative Europe.



Presentation on opportunities for Adult Education through the Erasmus+ programme.

DENISE SHANNON is a Senior Executive Officer in Leargas and has strategic responsibility for the implementation of the Erasmus+ Programme in Ireland for the Adult Education field.  She has worked in the agency since 2003 and oversaw the Grundtvig (Adult Education) Programme in Ireland from 2007 to the close of the LLP Programme in 2014.  She was  Coordinator of the Education Equality Initiative (EEI) from 2004 -2006 (a national Programme) the aim of which was to fund projects with a view to informing policy and practice in adult education particularly in relation to addressing educational disadvantage.  Prior to her work in the agency, she worked at a local level for both national and European funded programmes, overseeing the development, evaluation and support of special innovative initiatives tackling disadvantage in through school, adult education and community development contexts.


Dee joined the team in August 2015 as our dedicated European Programmes Coordinator. A lively facilitator, she provides advice and training to members on EU funding, with a particular focus on the Europe for Citizens Programme for which she is the National Contact Point in Ireland. She also contributes to business development objectives at The Wheel, supporting EU funding applications.

With over 12 years’ international work experience spanning the public, private and voluntary sectors, Dee holds particular specialisms in institutional funding and public engagement. Before working at The Wheel she was Head of Programmes at VSO Ireland, an international development NGO, while earlier in her career she held strategic marketing roles at Bord Bia and Dell.

With an MA in International Relations and a BA in Political Science, Deirdre is a self-confessed nerd, always up-skilling and doing diplomas! She speaks fluent French and is a Director of Irish-Ugandan charity, Nurture Africa.


Ciarán Duffy, is a Senior Scientific Officer with Enterprise Ireland, Ireland’s government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets in addition to being Irelands national contact agency for EU Framework programmes. Ciarán currently holds the role of European Advisor – EU horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme 2014-2020, and is one of two National Contact Point for Societal Challenge 1 (Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing). Ciarán is also the Member States Representative for the Innovative Medicines Initiative Joint Undertaking and Programme Manager for the Active Assisted Living Joint Programme. Prior to this Ciaran worked within the academic environment in Ireland (Dublin City University), the US (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis) and Canada (University of Alberta, Edmonton, and the National Research Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia). Ciarán has also worked for a number of years in the industrial sector, specifically within the health diagnostics and pharmaceutical industry, maintaining an industry role today on the board of director’s with a clinical research company in Northern Ireland.
